WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Leucadia National Corp. (LUK) reported net income for the first quarter of $380.8 million or $0.99 per share, compared to $94.3 million or $0.25 per share for the year-ago quarter.
Net revenue for the first quarter rose to $3.18 billion from $2.94 billion a year ago.
The latest quarter net revenues reflect realized and unrealized gains of $686.6 million related to the company's recent investment in FXCM, $18.6 million of which was received in cash during the quarter, and $668.0 million of which represents an unrealized fair value gain on the value of its investment.
