WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - A day after being grounded in Bermuda, cruise ship Norwegian Dawn, was re-floated back to sea. By Wednesday morning, the ship was moved to Bermuda's Royal Navel Dockyard, and docked at the Heritage Wharf.
On Tuesday, the cruise ship temporarily lost power and ran aground while departing King's Wharf in Bermuda. The Norwegian liner attributed the mishap to a malfunction of the propulsion system, which led the ship to come in contact with the channel bed.
The Norwegian Dawn originally sailed from Boston to Bermuda and was returning to its port of origin. It is not yet clear as to when the ship will head back to Boston.
Currently, Norwegian Cruise Line officers and engineers, along with inspectors from the certification and safety organization DNV GL, are in the process of assessing any damage to the vessel.
The cruise ship's running aground did not result in any injuries to passengers or crew, with little or no damage to the ship as per initial reports. The Norwegian Dawn was carrying 2,675 passengers and 1,062 crew members.
