WARSAW (dpa-AFX) - With exit polls showing victory for nationalist opposition candidate Andrzej Duda, incumbent Bronislaw Komorowski has conceded Poland's presidential election.
As official results of the run off are expected later on Monday, exit polls showed that Conservative Duda has won 53 percent of the votes, while President Komorowski could win only 47 percent.
Addressing his supporters in capital Warsaw Sunday, Duda said the people voted for change, and called on them 'Together we can change Poland.'
The presidential election went to a second round, as none of the ten candidates could gain the 50 percent votes needed to win outright in the first round of polling held two weks ago.
The voters' dissatisfaction with the pro-EU Government reflected in the unexpectedly high support for Duda.
The outcome is seen as a setback for Komorowski, as well as the ruling center-right Civic Platform, as the country's parliamentary election is just few months away.
