BRUSSELS (dpa-AFX) - The euro weakened against the other major currencies in the Asian session on Tuesday.
The euro fell to nearly a 4-week low of 133.09 against the yen, from yesterday's closing value of 133.42.
Against the U.S. and the New Zealand dollars, the euro dropped to a 4-week low of 1.0930 and nearly a 3-week low of 1.4957 from yesterday's closing quotes of 1.0976 and 1.5005, respectively.
The euro edged down to 0.7075 against the pound and 1.0354 against the Swiss franc, from yesterday's closing quotes of 0.7094 and 1.0370, respectively.
Against the Australia and the Canadian dollars, the euro slipped to near 2-week lows of 1.3978 and 1.3471 from yesterday's closing quotes of 1.4021 and 1.3513, respectively.
If the euro extends its downtrend, it is likely to find support around 128.50 against the yen, 1.06 against the greenback, 1.44 against the kiwi, 0.69 against the pound, 1.02 against the franc, 1.36 against the aussie and 1.31 against the loonie.
