LONDON (dpa-AFX) - Packaging and paper Group Mondi Plc (MNDI.L) Tuesday said it expects basic earnings per share for the half year ended June 30 2015 to be between 57 euro cents and 62 euro cents, an increase of between 17 percent and 28 percent from last year's 48.6 euro cents.
The company said the latest results include a net special item charge of around 36 million euros, relating mainly to restructuring activities including the closure of a small kraft paper mill in Finland, the closure of a consumer packaging plant in Spain and further restructuring of the US bags business. Last year's charge was 16 million euros.
Basic underlying earnings per share for the fist half is projected to be 65 euro cents to 70 euro cents, an increase of between 25 percent and 35 percent from 51.9 euro cents last year. Basic headline earnings per share would be 57 euro cents to 62 euro cents, an increase of between 18 percent and 28 percent from the prior year.
The company confirmed that underlying operating profit for the half year is expected to be above that of the comparable prior year period of 377 million euros.
Mondi will release its results for the half year on August 6.
