ROME (dpa-AFX) - Italian utility Enel S.p.A. (ENLAY.PK, EN) Thursday said its first-half group net income jumped over 10 percent to 1.833 billion euros from 1.665 billion euros. Earnings per share were 0.19 euro, compared to 0.18 euro last year.
Group net ordinary income was 1.604 billion euros, up 3.4 percent, due to lower financial charges partially offset by a rise in non-controlling interests in Endesa.
Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortization or EBITDA improved 1.5 percent to 7.961 billion euros.
Revenue improved 4.2 percent to 37.632 billion euros from 36.101 billion euros in the prior year.
Further, the firm said it is continuing, through the Global Business Lines, to develop initiatives to enhance operating efficiency and optimize costs. Results achieved so far are in line with expectations for 2015.
