SANDY SPRINGS (dpa-AFX) - United Parcel Service (UPS) reported a profit for its third quarter that advanced from last year.
The company said its bottom line rose to $1.26 billion, or $1.39 per share. This was higher than $1.21 billion, or $1.32 per share, in last year's third quarter.
Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.37 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company said revenue for the quarter fell 0.3% to $14.24 billion. This was down from $14.29 billion last year.
