PARIS (dpa-AFX) - French car maker PSA Peugeot Citroën's (PEUGF.PK) Mulhouse plant announced that a weekend shift will be added on a temporary basis as from January 2016 to handle the increase in orders stemming from higher demand in Europe and the market success of three models produced at the plant: the Peugeot 2008, the Citroën C4 and the DS4.
Around 950 positions will need to be filled for the first semester of 2016 to staff the new weekend shift. Temporary employees will account for around 750 of these positions, with the remainder filled through internal mobility.
A 400 million euros transformation plan has been deployed at Mulhouse to make it one of the top performing automobile plants in Europe by 2020.
In July 2015, the site announced that it had been selected to produce a new DS model starting in 2018.
