BERLIN (dpa-AFX) - Germany's second-largest airline Air Berlin plc (AIBEF) reported that revenue passenger kilometers or RPK, a measure of traffic, for the month of September 2015 decreased 7.2 percent year-over-year to 4.631 billion.
Available seat kilometers or ASK, a gauge for capacity, declined 6.8 percent year-over-year to 5.349 billion.
In September 2015, airberlin transported a total of 3.16 million. In light of an extensive capacity reduction by 7.2 percent, the number of passengers decreased by 6.4 percent as compared to the corresponding month of the previous year.
For the first three quarters of 2015, the capacity utilization rate increased by 0.6 percentage points in yearly comparison, reaching a total of 84.8 percent. For the third quarter, airberlin recorded an average increase of the capacity utilization by 1.1 percent in yearly comparison. The accumulated number of passengers for the year decreased by 4.3 percent to 23.77 million passengers in comparison with the previous year.
