SEATTLE (dpa-AFX) - An Illinois woman has filed a lawsuit against Starbucks accusing that the coffee retail giant is misleading customers by 'underfilling' its cold beverages.
According to the plaintiff, Starbucks is cheating customers by serving cold coffees with too much ice cubes and less coffee than advertised, 'often nearly half as many fluid ounces.'
'Plaintiff alleges that during the Class Period,2 Starbucks has engaged in the practice of misrepresenting the amount of Cold Drink a customer will receive. As a result of this practice, Starbucks' Cold Drinks contain significantly less product than advertised, by design and corporate practice and procedure,' the complaint reads.
Starbucks is the largest coffee retailer in the world, with more than 23,000 stores in over 60 countries and with over 13,000 stores in the United States. Starbucks sells millions of cold drinks every year, accounting for billions of dollars in revenue. In 2015, Starbucks generated about $19.2 billion in revenues.
