ASSLAR (dpa-AFX) - German vacuum pumps maker Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology AG (PFFVF.PK, PVTCY.PK) reported that its net income for the first quarter declined 21.6 percent to 9.0 million euros from 11.4 million euros in the year-ago period. Earnings per share also declined 21.6 percent to 0.91 euros from 1.16 euros in the prior year.
Operating profit or EBIT declined 21.5 percent to 12.9 million euros from 16.4 million euros in the prior-year period.
Order intake declined 2.4 percent to 117.4 million euros from 120.3 million euros last year.
However, sales for the quarter grew 2.5 percent to 106.9 million euros from 106.9 million euros in the prior year.
For fiscal 2016, the company projects sales and operating margin to increase compared to the prior year.
