SANDY SPRINGS (dpa-AFX) - United Parcel Service (UPS) reported a profit for its second quarter that rose compared to the same period last year.
The company said its bottom line totaled $1.27 billion, or $1.43 per share. This was higher than $1.23 billion, or $1.35 per share, in last year's second quarter.
Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.43 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company said revenue for the quarter rose 3.8% to $14.63 billion. This was up from $14.10 billion last year.
