MADRID (dpa-AFX) - Spanish telecom group Telefonica SA (TDE.L, TEF) Thursday said its net profit for the fist half of 2016 declined 42.1 percent to 1.24 billion euros from 2.14 billion euros in the year-ago period.
Earnings per share decreased to 0.23 euros from 0.41 euros in the prior-year period.
Operative income before depreciation and amortization or OIBDA declined 6.4 percent to 7.76 billion euros.
Revenues for the half year declined 7.1 percent to 25.24 billion euros from 27.15 billion euros last year. However, revenues rose 1.3 percent on an organic basis.
Looking ahead, Telefonica reiterated its 2016 guidance and dividend as well as the leverage ratio for the mid-term.
