NORFOLK (dpa-AFX) - Norfolk Southern Corp (NSC) revealed earnings for second quarter that dropped compared to the same period last year.
The company said its earnings declined to $405 million, or $1.36 per share. This was down from $433 million, or $1.41 per share, in last year's second quarter.
Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.34 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company said revenue for the quarter fell 9.6% to $2.45 billion. This was down from $2.71 billion last year.
