BERLIN (dpa-AFX) - German medical and safety technology provider Draegerwerk AG (DRWKF.PK) reported Thursday that its second-quarter earnings after taxes increased to 12.5 million euros from 10.9 million euros last year. Earnings per share were 0.52 euro, compared to 0.51 euro last year.
Earnings before interest and taxes or EBIT stood at 21.2 million euros, compared to 21.7 million euros last year, with an EBIT margin of 3.7 percent, compared to 3.4 percent last year.
In the second quarter, Draegerwerk's net sales were down to 579 million euros from 634 million euros last year. Net sales were down in all regions, with the sharpest declines in Asia, Africa, and Australia.
The company's order intake declined to 621.4 million euros from last year's 634 million euros, while it grew 0.9 percent net of currency effects.
Looking ahead, for fiscal year 2016, Draegerwerk continues to expect net sales growth at constant rates in the previously forecast range of 0.0 to 3.0 percent. Draegerwerk again anticipates an EBIT margin of between 3.5 and 5.5 percent.
