WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - American Airlines Group Inc. (AAL) is offering free, inflight entertainment to travellers on all its domestic flights with seatback entertainment systems or Wi-Fi.
Beginning in August, travelers on the Wi-Fi enabled American Airlines aircraft will have unrestricted access to free entertainment, including premium channels, from their own devices or seatback entertainment systems.
Fernand Fernandez, American's vice president of Global Marketing said, 'American is further investing in and personalizing how our customers travel by giving them the most in-flight entertainment options onboard our aircraft.'
All American domestic mainline aircraft and two-class regional jets offer in-flight Wi-Fi. Customers can download the American Airlines mobile app to access the free, premium entertainment.
Travelers can choose from more than 160 movies including nearly 50 new releases, 300 television shows, more than 700 music selections and 20 games.
They can enjoy premium shows like HBO's 'Game of Thrones' and 'Silicon Valley' as well as new movie releases such as 'Captain America: Civil War,' 'The Boss' and 'The Lobster.'
They can also watch live streaming TV from Sport24 and enjoy their favorite sports, from the NFL and EPL to Formula One racing and the U.S. Open.
In addition, they can catch programs on BBC World, CNBC and CNN. Live options are presented by MasterCard on select planes and routes.
American Airlines also has exclusive entertainment options for VIP travelers. On select flights without in-seat entertainment, they can view new movies, hit television programs, games, music and best-selling book excerpts on Samsung Galaxy tabs.
Available inflight entertainment will vary by aircraft type. Nearly 300 of American's aircraft currently have seatback entertainment, with more being added every month.
