SANDY SPRINGS (dpa-AFX) - United Parcel Service (UPS) reported a profit for its third quarter that increased from last year.
The company said its bottom line rose to $1.27 billion, or $1.44 per share. This was up from $1.26 billion, or $1.39 per share, in last year's third quarter.
Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.44 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company said revenue for the quarter rose 4.8% to $14.93 billion. This was up from $14.24 billion last year.
