CUPERTINO (dpa-AFX) - Apple has upgraded the data storage option for its online storage service iCloud Drive, now offering 2 terabytes of space for $19.99 a month. The move reportedly indicates a new storage tier for the upcoming iPhone 7, which is set to be launched on September 7, along with the larger iPhone 7 Plus.
As per reports, there is a possibility for a new 256GB iPhone 7 Plus as the largest iCloud storage tier has been eight times that of the largest capacity iPhone.
Apple's new plan is twice the $9.99 monthly cost of its previous maximum storage option of 1TB.
The company continues to offer storage for $0.99 a month for 50GB, $2.99 for 200GB, or $9.99 for 1TB. Mac and iOS users who don't pay for iCloud also get a default amount of 5GB for free.
iCloud storage option can be used by Mac and iOS users to store and sync photos and videos, and other documents, device backups, music, emails and more.
Google Drive's terabyte pricing starts at $9.99 a month for 1TB, while Microsoft's 1TB plan is for $6.99 a month. Dropbox also offers 1TB for $9.99 per month.
