WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Former House Speaker John Boehner has joined the board of Reynolds American Inc., the tobacco company announced Thursday.
Boehner will serve on the board's corporate governance, nominating and sustainability committee, the company said. A longtime smoker, Boehner had resigned from the House last year after serving in Congress for 25 years and more than four years as its speaker.
The company also appointed Jean-Marc Levy, executive-in-residence at the IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland, to its board.
The Winston-Salem, N.C. based company owns R.J. Reynolds, second-largest U.S. tobacco company, and its brands include Newport and Camel.
