BRUSSELS (dpa-AFX) - More than three-quarters of UK chief executives are considering re-locating the company headquarters or some operations outside Britain because of the surprise 'Brexit' vote in June, results of a survey showed Monday.
A survey of 100 chief executives by KPMG revealed that 69 percent are confident about the U.K. economy's growth prospects over the next year, while 76 percent were considering moving either their headquarters or their operations abroad. Seventy-two percent voted for the U.K. to 'remain' in the European Union.
'CEOs are reacting to the prevailing uncertainty with contingency planning,' KPMG U.K. Chairman Simon Collins said.
'Over half believe the U.K.'s ability to do business will be disrupted once we Brexit and therefore, for many CEOs, it is important that they plan different scenarios to hedge against future disruption.'
The survey was conducted among 100 U.K. CEOs of companies with annual sales of at least GBP 100 million to GBP 1 billion and at least 500 employees.
