BRASILIA (dpa-AFX) - The World wine production in 2016 is estimated to reach 259 million hectolitres, a fall of 5 percent compared with 2015, according to the International Organization of Vine and Wine.
Jean-Marie Aurand, the Director General of the OIV, presented initial information about world wine production in 2016 during a press conference that was held in Paris.
2016 Production is among the lowest in 20 years, and it is attributed to highly contrasting situations as a consequence of climatic events.
Italy (48.8 mhl) confirms its place as the leading world producer, followed by France (41.9 mhl) and Spain (37.8 mhl).
