WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - President-elect Donald Trump plans to continue announcing his choices for top positions in his administration in the coming days and suggested he will reveal 'almost all' of his remaining Cabinet picks next week.
Trump announced his choice of retired Marine Corps General James Mattis for Defense Secretary at a rally in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Thursday.
The billionaire-turned-politician previously unveiled his nominees for Attorney General, Treasury Secretary, Education Secretary, Health and Human Services Secretary, Transportation Secretary, and Commerce Secretary.
'We have some other announcements coming up literally very soon, and people are loving our choices so far,' Trump said in an interview with Fox News broadcast Friday. 'We're gonna have an amazing Cabinet.'
He added, 'We have tremendous people joining the Cabinet and beyond the Cabinet. So you'll be seeing almost all of them next week.'
Trump hailed his choices as people of great distinction and success and claimed he's been getting credit for assembling one of the greatest Cabinets ever.
However, some of his choices have drawn considerable criticism, including his nominations of Senator Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., as Attorney General and Wall Street banker Steven Mnuchin as Treasury Secretary.
Trump said in a separate interview with Fox News that his choice of nominee for the Supreme Court would be announced 'pretty soon.'
'I'm down to probably three or four [candidates],' Trump said. 'They are terrific people, highly respected, brilliant people and we'll be announcing that pretty soon too.'
The president-elect has previously indicated his nominee for the Supreme Court would be in the mold of late Justice Antonin Scalia, whose seat has been vacant since his death last February.
Trump's choice for Secretary of State has been among the most closely watched, with retired Army General David Petraeus, former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, Senator Bob Corker, R-Tenn., and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani said to be under consideration.
Nominees for secretaries of interior, agriculture, labor, housing and urban development, energy, veterans affairs, and homeland security have also yet to be announced.
