REDWOOD SHORES (dpa-AFX) - EA Sports has honored a 15-year-old brain cancer survivor and FIFA fan by including him as a star in the latest FIFA 17 video game.
The cancer survivor, Kenton Doust, is a Canadian and Vancouver Whitecaps 'superfan.' The teenager has survived three brain tumors.
In October 2015, Doust was not feeling well after days of throwing up and was rushed to hospital.
After doctors discovered the brain tumors, Doust was airlifted to Vancouver's BC Children's Hospital where he underwent 25 sessions of chemotherapy since October 2015. He was finally declared cancer-free in May 2016.
Throughout his battle with cancer, Doust received immense support from Whitecaps' players. Whitecaps midfielder Russel Teibert sent Doust boots and a signed jersey while he was in treatment, and also visited him on the day he was declared cancer free.
After Vancouver-based Electronic Arts and the Make A Wish Foundation heard about Doust's fight with cancer, they put him in the FIFA 17 video game. A player card was created for Doust that gives him an incredible 95 player rating.
'It's amazing what they did for me and how much it helped me. Thank you so much, today has been a great day, I love you all,' Doust expressed his gratitude on Twitter.
