MUNICH (dpa-AFX) - Wirecard AG (WRCDF.PK) reported that its earnings after tax for fiscal year 2016 increased by 87.0 percent to 266.7 million euros from last year's 142.6 million euros. Adjusted for the income from the sale of shares in Visa Europe to Vis Inc., earnings after tax amounted to 176.7 million euros.
Earnings per share increased by 86.0 percent to 2.16 euros from 1.16 euros last year. Adjusted for the special effect from the sale of Visa Europe, earnings per share amounted to 1.43 euros.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation or EBITDA increased to by 35.2 percent to 307.4 million euros from 227.3 million euros last year.
Group revenues increased 33.3 percent to 1.028 billion euros from 771.3 million euros in the previous year. The transaction volume processed through the Wirecard platform grew by 36.5 percent to 61.7 billion euros compared to 45.2 billion euros last year.
The Management Board will propose to this year's Annual General Meeting that a dividend of 0.16 euros per share is paid to shareholders, compared to 0.14 euros per share paid last year.
Wirecard expects a strong performance in the 2017 fiscal year and confirms its forecast for earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation or EBITDA of between 382 million euros and 400 million euros.
