WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Viacom Inc. (VIAB) reported a profit for its second quarter that advanced from last year.
The company said its bottom line came in at $317 million, or $0.79 per share. This was higher than $303 million, or $0.76 per share, in last year's second quarter.
Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.59 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company said revenue for the quarter rose 8.7% to $3.26 billion. This was up from $3.00 billion last year.
