MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Pinnacle Systems(R), Inc. today announced that the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation International (LBCi), the leading private broadcaster in Lebanon, has chosen DekoCast to support the Star Academy Channel, currently broadcast across the Middle East on the Arabsat network.
Jihad Hachem, Head of Engineering Projects, LBCi said, "We needed a robust, cost effective device that would allow us to run live information direct to air, while also integrating with our existing environment. DekoCast has proved itself exceptionally reliable and is currently running 24 hours per day without a single hitch."
Pinnacle DekoCast is being used to deliver SMS text and chat information from the viewing audience directly on screen in one of the first uses of this capability in the Middle East. Handling video, audio, clips and graphics all in one box, DekoCast is well suited for live update applications such as SMS chat, market prices or weather reports.
Jihad Hachem added, "Pinnacle's networked workflow design integrates perfectly into our existing technical environment ensuring rapid deployment and long term reliability."
The new installation expands on a significant investment by LBCi in Pinnacle equipment. During the last 2 years LBCi has installed extensive Pinnacle products in its studio environments and in outside broadcast trucks used for news gathering and sports coverage of Lebanese Basketball Federation games. Within its Beirut facilities, LBCi uses two Deko 2200 systems, an FXDeko II with integrated ClipDeko, a Thunder four-channel still and clip server, DVEXCEL, and a PDS 6000i production switcher. In the London-based Al-Hayat / LBCi studio, a joint venture between LBCi and the pan-Arab Al-Hayat publishing company, LBCi is using a PDS 6000i production switcher and Deko 2200 with ClipDeko.
Said Bacho, Managing Director, Middle East, Pinnacle Systems, "DekoCast is a rock solid broadcast system and perfect for this type of interactive program format. The installation was extremely straightforward as the network environment was already optimised for Pinnacle equipment. As existing users of Deko equipment, training wasn't an issue for LBCi."
LBCi is a private broadcaster in the Middle East, launched in the mid 1980's and is currently one of the leading broadcasters in the region.
