Piper was nominated for the award by Jack Leezy, operations analyst with the MMS' Gulf of Mexico Region, for his development of the EZ-Regs Program, a tool for searching through regulations data to find information on a specific subject via a keyword search. Piper's intent for the EZ-Regs Program was to develop a tool that production operators could use to easily and efficiently locate regulatory information relevant to the safe and compliant performance of their job duties.
The official MMS recognition honored Piper "for outstanding initiative in organizing, planning, and developing a software program that helps operators achieve MMS offshore safety and compliance objectives." The CORLA program is designed to recognize corporation employees for performing an act or service that enhances the MMS' ability to meet Offshore or Minerals Revenue Management (MRM) mission objectives.
"Kevin possesses all of the qualities that we look for in a Baker employee -- initiative, leadership, and personal ownership of work-related responsibilities. He recognized a need among his Baker colleagues for improved access to regulatory information, and he worked to create a user-friendly program that would meet that need," said Troy Bourgeois, Baker Energy production superintendent.
"Baker Energy is committed to providing a safe, compliant and environmentally sound workforce to the offshore oil and gas industry. It takes dedicated employees like Kevin Piper to deliver these excellent performance results. The EZ-Regs program is the latest tool added to our team's tool box to assist in meeting Baker's HSE&C performance goals," said Rex Doyle, Baker Energy's senior vice president of operations and business development. "It is tools like this that differentiate Baker Energy from the competition and enhance our clients' reputations, as well as our own."
