GENEVA, June 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- STMicroelectronics announced today that the company's latest Bluetooth single chip product, the STLC2500, has been certified for Bluetooth qualification by 7 layers Germany and is now listed on the Bluetooth qualification website: http://qualweb.bluetooth.org/.
A few weeks ago, ST announced the start of sampling of its latest Bluetooth product, the STLC2500, a single-chip product for handheld terminal applications that adds full Bluetooth v1.2 function and capability with superior radio performance and very low power consumption.
The STLC2500 product successfully passed BQB certification at 7 layers Germany, covering all Bluetooth v1.2 features as characterized and certified over the extended temperature range of -40 degrees C to +85 degrees C. The 7 layers model divides communication systems into seven layers which include all possible aspects in a communications system and describes all possible functions. The 7 layers company tests these layers and offers certification of the BQB (Bluetooth(R) Qualification Bodies) for inclusion of products as being officially "Bluetooth Qualified".
"STMicroelectronics successfully passed all tests at 7 layers at first try. STLC2500 looks to be a promising product to boost further the Bluetooth market for mobile phones and PDA's," said Andreas Gruenwaldt at 7 layers Germany.
The product will be demonstrated at the Wireless Connectivity Conference in Amsterdam from June 8th through 10th, 2004 at booth 410, along with ST's other Bluetooth products and demos, and the company's WLAN product portfolio.
"Bluetooth qualification is a significant step in allowing customers to buy solutions that are guaranteed to operate according to Bluetooth v1.2 standards," stated Giacomo Piccini, Vice President of ST's Networking Division. "In addition, we are pleased to offer an enhanced portfolio to allow customers to optimize the solutions they offer. The STLC2500 targets the cellular phone and PDA market, the STLC2415/STLC2150 target many other applications. With Bluetooth product line, coupled with its offering in WLAN and other wireless products, ST is well positioned as a reliable partner for wireless connectivity."
