LOD, Israel, July 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AudioCodes , a leading provider of Voice over Packet (VoP) technologies and Voice Network products, announced today that the AudioCodes Mediant(R) Media Gateway has received PacketCable(TM) Qualification status from CableLabs(R). Mediant Media Gateways are built with AudioCodes' VoIPerfect(TM) architecture that has been used in wireline and wireless VoIP applications with over 10 million ports deployed in 75 countries. AudioCodes has enhanced the Mediant Media Gateway to support the PacketCable specifications and achieved interoperability with other PacketCable-compliant products.
"We have been watching AudioCodes progress and are excited about their recent accomplishment," said Tony Werner EVP/CTO of Liberty Media.
"CableLabs Qualified" means that the media gateway has passed a series of tests for compliance with the indicated version of the PacketCable specifications and has thus demonstrated interoperable functionality with other "CableLabs certified/qualified" devices.
"This offers the MSO community more media gateway choices, in both size and price, which is essential to achieve mass market deployment," stated Ben Rabinowitz, Vice President -- AudioCodes Systems Group. "Media gateways currently represent a substantial portion of the cost for deploying voice in MSO networks, but our CableLabs qualification will help bring more competition and better pricing to this market sector."
