SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BEA Systems, Inc. , the world's leading application infrastructure software company, today announced that it has promoted Tom Ashburn to Executive Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations, a new organization responsible for all of BEA's sales, services and marketing operations.
"For the past year, our focus has been on bringing BEA WebLogic Platform(TM) 8.1 to market. Building on our early successes, we are now combining sales, services and marketing to create an even more focused and coordinated set of capabilities to better serve our customers. This is a natural step in BEA's evolution," said Alfred Chuang, BEA's founder, chairman and CEO. "By creating an office of Worldwide Field Operations, we believe will be better able to integrate our go-to-market strategy among our direct sales, marketing, and services organizations, our resellers and our partners. Tom has done an outstanding job leading our worldwide services organization, and I look forward to working with him in his new role. Innovation is the core of BEA's success, and by coordinating our worldwide field operations under Tom's leadership, I will be turning more of my focus to innovation and the next stages of our product strategy."
Mr. Ashburn joined BEA in February 2002 as President of BEA's Worldwide Services Division. Prior to joining BEA, Mr. Ashburn had a 33-year career at Hewlett-Packard, where he most recently served as vice president and general manager of HP Services.
"BEA has a wealth of resources and capabilities to offer our customers, including an extensive network of partners, and we want to better coordinate our efforts to bring all of those capabilities to bear in order to help make our customers successful," said Mr. Ashburn.
