PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- For the fourth year, PECO Energy and the Philadelphia Eagles will honor local individuals as "hometown heroes" at each of the team's upcoming NFL home games this season. And this year, the company and the team recognize those making one of the greatest sacrifice of all - the men and women of our military serving overseas and putting their lives on the line to defend our country.
With the help of the USO of Pennsylvania and area commanders, PECO and the Eagles are recognizing local members of the military who have recently returned from overseas duty. In their honor, PECO is making a $1,000 contribution per home game on their behalf to the USO. Honorees also receive game tickets, pre-game sideline passes, Eagles merchandise and more.
This year, Eagles' center / guard Hank Fraley has joined the hero team to champion the program on behalf of the Eagles. The anchor of the Eagles offensive line since 2001, Fraley also sponsors the Hank Fraley Award, presented annually to a high school football player in the Philadelphia area who gets the most from his abilities.
PECO and the Eagles invite Eagles fans around the world to get involved in the program. Pictures of local men and women currently overseas are being posted on the PECO Hometown Hero Web site and some are even being selected to appear in stadium during home games on the stadium's video board. To view photos of Philadelphia area residents serving overseas visit http://www.peco.com/hero.
If you have a family member or friend who is from the region and is currently defending our country overseas, you can salute your PECO Hometown Hero by sending a picture to HometownHero@LincolnFinancialField.com. Photos must be high-resolution jpeg images.
Annually, the PECO Hometown Hero program celebrates the efforts of men and women who have not been widely recognized for their special dedication and personal commitment to improving the quality of life for all of us. Since it's inception, the PECO Hometown Hero Program has honored more than 25 individuals for numerous achievements including feeding the homeless, caring for cancer patients, and promoting literacy.
