REDWOOD CITY, California, December 3 /PRNewswire/ --
- New 'Digital 360 Interoperability Lab' to Provide Testing for TR-064 and TR-069 Specifications
SupportSoft, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPRT), a leading provider of Real-Time Service Management (RTSM(TM))software, today announced the launch of its Digital 360 Interoperability Lab focused on compliance testing of customer premises equipment (CPE) with DSL Forum Technical Reports TR-064 and TR-069.
The testing will verify adherence to the TR-064 and TR-069 specifications announced by the DSL Forum earlier this year. TR-064 is a LAN-side DSL CPE configuration specification that helps ensure that DSL modems can be easily configured and activated from the service provider's network. As a result, it helps simplify and speed the installation of a home or small business broadband connection. TR-069 provides CPE WAN management protocol that incorporates CPE management functions into a common framework, to enable easier network management of broadband services.
The Digital 360 Interoperability Lab testing can be conducted in two ways:
-- LAN environment (PC to CPE) CPE auto-configuration testing (TR-064) in SupportSoft's lab, which is equipped with multiple PC and Mac operating systems -- WAN environment (network-based server to CPE) CPE auto-configuration testing (TR-069) in SupportSoft's lab, which is equipped with a complete DSLAM network environment
SupportSoft provides service automation software to digital service providers including SmartAccess(TM) for installation automation of a broadband connection, and netConfiguration(TM) for automated configuration of CPE equipment.
Broadband service providers across the globe recognize the need to simplify, accelerate and enhance the subscriber experience for their customers. In fact, in a recent survey of European broadband subscribers(1), 70% claimed that they experienced problems with their broadband service, either during installation or within 3 months of installing their broadband connection, highlighting the need for improving the customer experience. For service providers globally, a key element in simplifying the installation process is interoperability between installation automation solutions and multiple CPE vendors.
"SupportSoft is excited to open its doors to any CPE vendor eager to comply with the DSL Forum's latest Technical Reports for auto-configuration, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with the industry to accelerate broadband adoption," said James Morehead, senior director of product management at SupportSoft. "DSL gateways and routers can be the single greatest point of failure in broadband service delivery. The SupportSoft Digital 360 Interoperability Lab can help reduce this risk by helping CPE vendors verify that their products are interoperable with leading industry specifications to ensure broadband reliability."
