LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Zoran Corporation announced its eighth generation Vaddis 8 DVD Multimedia Processor family at CES 2005.
The Vaddis 8 product family is the world's first fully digital end-to-end solution for DVD players, including a digital RF, servo, read channel, and multimedia decoder. In addition, the Vaddis 8 family reduces system cost by lowering system component count and enables enhanced playability for best handling of scratched disks.
The Vaddis 862 product is the first to be launched within the Vaddis 8 product family, enabling targeted DVD player manufacturers to address the high volume price sensitive market. Additional members of the Vaddis 8 product family with enhanced features will be introduced later this year.

Additional features supported include: JPEG viewing with Kodak PictureCD, playback of Microsoft WMA and compressed audio formats. Vaddis 8 also supports Single Pixel Processing(TM) progressive scan technology, via component video output.
Vaddis 8 is designed for OEMs to easily migrate from Vaddis 6 and 7 DVD solutions for quick time to market. Samples and a complete reference design kit are available now to Zoran's strategic customers and partners.
