iAnywhere Customer Wins Highlight Demand for Mobility Solutions Worldwide

DUBLIN, Calif., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- iAnywhere Solutions, Inc., a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc. , today announced that its market-leading mobile technology delivers bottom-line business benefits to Brink's; Lufthansa Systems; The Office of the Sheriff, Charles County, MD; Pioneer Hi-Bred; Reed Elsevier; and Winfield Solutions. These customers are among hundreds of leading companies worldwide that have turned to iAnywhere(R) to design, develop and deploy successful mobile enterprise applications that give their organizations the ability to manage and access the information they need, when and where they need it.

"iAnywhere has more than a decade of mobile technology experience and holds leadership positions in the mobile database, mobile middleware and mobile management and security market sectors," said Brian Vink, vice president of marketing at iAnywhere. "It's this experience that draws partners and companies to iAnywhere when selecting proven technology for the development and management of their mobility applications."

"We have been using technology by Sybase and iAnywhere for eight years, and our experiences are very good. It made a lot of sense to continue using proven technology," said Haim Zanzer at the Belgian branch of Brink's, which is responsible for the IT system worldwide.

Brink's

Brink's Incorporated is the world's oldest and largest security transportation company. Since 1962, Brink's has been transporting valuables in 120 countries with branch offices in 53 countries. Besides armored vehicles, the worldwide organization of highly secure express deliveries demands optimal processes and an efficient infrastructure. Delays, losses or erroneous deliveries are not tolerated in this area of business; reliability is paramount. As a result, Brink's has created a powerful mobile application for the processing of international shipping orders. The system, based on iAnywhere SQL Anywhere Studio(R) database technology, is currently live in 28 computer centers on four continents.

Lufthansa Systems

Lufthansa Systems is one of the leading IT service providers for the airline and aviation industry worldwide. As a systems integrator, the wholly owned subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group covers the entire spectrum of IT services from consultation to development, implementation and operation. Lufthansa turned to the Pylon Anywhere(R) application to connect the company's mobile devices to Lufthansa's internal systems so that the group's executives can access their email and PIM (Personal Information Management) data, such as calendars, contacts, notes and task lists anywhere and at any time.

The Office of the Sheriff for Charles County, Maryland

The Office of the Sheriff for Charles County, Maryland, is located approximately 25 miles southeast of Washington, D.C., serving roughly 130,000 citizens. Afaria(R), the market leading mobile device management solution from iAnywhere, operates on Pocket PCs, enables officers to create reports that are automatically uploaded to the central system, making record-keeping timelier and reporting easier. Additionally, Afaria enables the restoration of lost device information in the event of a power failure and the ability to lock down and protect information security if a device is lost or stolen.

Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc.

Pioneer Hi-Bred is the world's leading developer and supplier of advanced plant genetics to farmers worldwide. The term field workers typically brings to mind utility service people, sales representatives and other employees on the move, but in the case of Pioneer Hi-Bred, the users of their Pioneer Field Information Exchange (PFIX) application literally work in fields-fields where corn, soybeans and other crops are grown. iAnywhere SQL Anywhere Studio enables these workers to easily synchronize data gathered via handhelds in the field with a high-performance, scalable back-end database.

Reed Elsevier

UK-based Reed Elsevier is a world-leading publisher of information, with four operating divisions that produce more than 15,000 different magazines, books, CD ROMs and Internet-based data and information services. They also own Farmplan, a specialist software firm that develops applications for managing farm estates. Farmplan turned to integrator ProspectSoft, Ltd to develop a comprehensive customer relationship management solution that uses iAnywhere SQL Anywhere Studio, UltraLite(R), and MobiLink as well as Sybase's PowerBuilder(R). The system is used to manage Farmplan's call center, remote mobile sales team and administration functions.

Winfield Solutions

Canadian-based Winfield Solutions enables wildlife management staff at airports across the United States and Canada to ensure flight safety by minimizing the likelihood of incidents such as bird strikes or collisions with mammals that could endanger aircraft or passengers. Winfield Solutions' AIRMAN (Airport Information Report Manager) software program, developed using SQL Anywhere Studio from iAnywhere and PowerBuilder and Pocket PowerBuilder. from Sybase, is tailored to manage wildlife control activities on airfields. Using iAnywhere, data collected in the field on handheld devices by wildlife technicians can easily be synced and entered into the central AIRMAN system for analysis and reporting.
