HealthRamp and RxRite Partner to Offer Electronic Prescribing on the BlackBerry(R) Wireless Platform

NEW YORK, March 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ramp Corporation , through its wholly owned HealthRamp subsidiary and RxRite.com Inc. today announced a partnership to offer a HealthRamp CarePoint(TM) branded electronic prescribing solution on the BlackBerry(R) wireless platform. HealthRamp develops and markets the CarePoint and CareGiver technology suites. RxRite has developed and markets an electronic prescribing application for BlackBerry, created by Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM).

The partnership between HealthRamp and RxRite entails RxRite developing a version of CarePoint for BlackBerry devices utilizing, as the foundation, HealthRamp's scalable and dependable point-of-care technology architecture. RxRite has been developing software applications for the BlackBerry(R) wireless platform since 1999 and recently became a BlackBerry Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Alliance member. The planned release of CarePoint for BlackBerry is early 2nd quarter of this year.

The version of CarePoint for BlackBerry will have all of the electronic prescribing features and benefits enjoyed by healthcare professionals who use CarePoint today. These features include the availability of patient-specific formulary (prescription drug coverage information), patient medication history, warnings to indicate potential adverse drug events and the secure transmission of a prescription to the patient's pharmacy of choice. Users of both the CarePoint and RxRite electronic prescribing products have realized the quality of care enhancements and administrative savings associated with implementing a robust electronic prescribing solution.

"We are delighted to have access to HealthRamp's RxHub and SureScripts certified point-of-care infrastructure which are collocated in an IBM HIPAA compliant facility and capable of supporting over 25,000 concurrent users," said Rodney Dobson, President and CEO of RxRite. "HealthRamp's foundational technology, which comes complete with sophisticated practice management integration, permits us to leverage our BlackBerry development expertise and deliver a superior electronic prescribing solution worthy of the HealthRamp CarePoint brand," concluded Dobson.

"RxRite has tremendous experience and proficiency in developing clinical solutions for BlackBerry. RxRite's technologies will ensure that the BlackBerry version of CarePoint is an out-of-the-box, cradle-free, electronic prescribing solution available for BlackBerry devices," stated Andrew Brown, Ramp CEO and President. "By adding BlackBerry to our arsenal of support devices, we expect to significantly increase our opportunities for physician adoption and technology partnerships," concluded Brown.

RxRite was founded in 1999 and produces affordable, easy-to-use, software solutions that improve the delivery of healthcare and physician effectiveness. RxRite(R) point-of-care e-Prescribing technology provides physicians, pharmacies, payers and PBMs (Pharmacy Benefit Managers) with the ability to communicate effectively for the safe, secure, creation, transmission, and processing of electronic prescriptions. RxRite improves patient care by solving communications problems between healthcare providers, saving them time and money, and reducing their overall costs. RxRite's proprietary real-time wireless handheld and web-based applications can act as a stand-alone system or may be integrated with electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management systems.
