Ann Getty, founder of the Ann Getty House Collection,
announced today that she will open a new furnishings gallery in Dania
Beach, Florida. She is delighted to begin a new partnership with John
Nelson and Michael Kirkland in their furnishings and textile showroom
in the Miami area Design Center of the Americas.
Mrs. Getty launched the Ann Getty House Collection in July of 2003 in the San Francisco showroom of Shears and Window. Since then she has also opened furniture galleries in New York and Los Angeles. The addition of a Florida showroom will round out her national representation. The Ann Getty House Collection features over forty antique reproductions and offers custom pieces, artwork and one of a kind accessories.
J Nelson opened in 2002, presenting an extraordinary collection of both antique and contemporary textiles, all representing the depth and tradition of classical weaving and archival design. Michael Kirkland, Design Director for the firm, pursued a partnership with Mrs. Getty after learning about her furniture collection while visiting the Victoria & Albert Museum.
With the advent of their partnership, Mr. Kirkland feels that "... Mrs. Getty's museum-quality reproductions reflect an obvious lifetime of access to the great collections of decorative arts the world over, with her own personal collection of antiques as the inspiration for Ann Getty House." John Nelson, President of the firm, states, "We are thrilled to be working with Mrs. Getty, her command of detail and provenance make her reproductions unequaled anywhere in the world."
J Nelson's multilingual staff plays an important role in introducing the company to Latin America and Europe. After three years in the design industry, the firm is home to some of the most well respected textile manufacturers in the world, including Luigi Bevilacqua and Sabina Fay Braxton. The firm maintains a base in Paris and New York. Because of their own personal love of interior design, they also provide custom design services to their clients, through their design business, Groupe Halleon.
Ann Getty, in New York this week to participate in the Kips Bay Decorator Show house, looks forward to a long relationship with such up and coming members of the design industry. "While I treasure the beauty of my Collection, I am also a pragmatic businesswoman. These enthusiastic entrepreneurs have already placed three of my limited edition Venus Chairs. Their interest in my line and their commitment to their discerning clientele make them a perfect partner for my business. I look forward to working with John and Michael."
Mrs. Getty and her line of furnishings, as well as her interior design business, have been featured in Architectural Digest, Town & Country, W, House and Garden and the San Francisco Chronicle.
