BOSTON, June 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Keane, Inc. , a leading business and information technology (IT) services firm, today announced it has further strengthened its software testing offerings by acquiring Cresta Testing Inc., the U.S. affiliate of U.K.-based consulting company Cresta Group Limited. Keane currently offers a wide portfolio of outsourced testing and quality assurance services and by adding Cresta Testing Inc., enhances its testing experience, expertise and customer relationships. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Specializing in business focused testing strategy design, test process implementation and test execution, Cresta Testing Inc. shares a similar approach with Keane. Testing begins at the start of the development project with business requirements and plays an integral part during the entire software development lifecycle, extending beyond deployment. This approach enables testing teams to go beyond finding software defects; it incrementally prevents a greater number of defects from happening -- resulting in higher quality software and reducing costs and time to market.
"Traditionally, organizations have taken a tactical and ultimately costly approach to testing, using software developers to detect defects at the end of the software development process," said Kathy Weeks, vice president of Delivery Services at Keane. "Our approach, now strengthened with the addition of Cresta Testing Inc., begins testing and quality assurance processes in the critical early stages of development. Using established tools and techniques, we help our clients discover rapid and cost-effective improvements in their development projects -- and avoid costly project rework, customer dissatisfaction and litigation."
Over the past year, Keane and Cresta Testing Inc. have collaborated on a number of software testing projects for customers, developing an integrated team. Keane's testing services are backed by two core capabilities that together create a unique service offering in the marketplace. First, Keane provides a Program Management Office that maintains oversight for delivery to keep business objectives in sight while ensuring flawless execution of project details. Second, Keane has a Global Testing Infrastructure that combines proven processes, in-depth expertise, tool vendor relationships and global delivery capabilities.
Additional information on the strategic importance of software testing can be found in the Keane White Paper, "An Ounce of Prevention: The Importance of Testing," and can be requested online at http://www.keane.com/whitepapers.
Cresta Group's non-U.S. testing practice remains unchanged and will continue to work with Keane as a strategic partner.
