BAD HOMBURG, Germany (AFX) - Fresenius Medical Care AG's acquisition of US-based Renal Care may be delayed till January or February due to an extended evaluation of the takeover by US competition authorities, a spokesman said.
The competition authorities had originally planned to finalise the review before the end of the year.
Now, however, it has expressed concern that FMC may become too strong in certain regions, and could therefor demand that the dialysis services and products provider must sell some clinics.
This relates to 2-3 pct of Renal Care's patients.
Including the Renal Care Group, Fresenius Medical Care's annual sales will rise to above 8 bln eur next year for the first time.
