Linde Gas Fuels Performance of SAP(R) Solutions with Mercury BTO Software

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Today, Mercury Interactive Corporation , the global leader in business technology optimization (BTO) software, announced that the Linde Gas Division of Linde AG, one of the leading gas suppliers worldwide, uses Mercury BTO software for the implementation and "go live" process for their deployments of the SAP(R) Enterprise Portal. Using Mercury LoadRunner(R), Linde Gas increased performance to raise the number of its sales people who can simultaneously access its sales transaction processes, from order to print out of the voucher, while dramatically decreasing system response time.

Linde Gas supplies industrial and medicinal gases, procedures, facilities, equipment and comprehensive services for gas applications and employs 3,100 staff in its home country of Germany. It is part of the Business Segment Gas & Engineering of Linde AG. Together with the Material Handling Business Segment they comprise a company with 9 billion euro in sales. In 2003, Linde Gas started a strategic IT project to standardize and consolidate its core business processes. The main goal of the project was to link all relevant business processes to SAP Enterprise Portal Release 6.0 in order to enable the company to respond immediately to changing business conditions.

Linde Gas used Mercury LoadRunner during pre-production to load test several sales-related business processes based on SAP Enterprise Portal, including order creation, delivery creation and contract creation.

"At Linde Gas, the customer comes first and needs to be served as fast as possible," said Thomas Steinich, manager global applications at Linde Gas. "Using Mercury BTO software we more than tripled the number of sales people who can access our sales transaction processes from fewer than 200 sales people to more than 600 sales people. We were also able to increase the volume of orders created per hour from fewer than 125 to more than 2,500 while decreasing the response time for order creation from 28 seconds to 6 seconds. With manual testing methods, we would not have achieved the time and efficiency requirements requested by the sales force."

"We are proud that Linde Gas is working with Mercury to help achieve the results of this very important initiative in support of SAP solutions," said Peter Prestele, Managing Director, Mercury Central Europe. "Mercury is committed to help customers optimize their business outcomes by working to make their deployments of business applications and technology like SAP Enterprise Portal more timely and cost-effective."
