Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc. Announces Pricing of Public Offering of 5.60% Notes Due 2011


OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Jan. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc. today announced that it has priced a public offering of $200 million aggregate principal amount of 5.60% notes due 2011. The Company expects the offering to close on January 13, 2006.

The Company intends to use the net proceeds of the offering, together with cash on hand, to repay all of the $200 million principal amount outstanding of the Company's 7 1/2 % senior notes due January 18, 2006.

Banc of America Securities LLC and JPMorgan Securities Inc. are acting as joint book-running managers for the offering.
