Nero, market leader in the field of technologies for
digital media, and elta, specialist in consumer electronics, have
announced the certification of a new MPEG4 DVD player for Nero
Digital(TM) compression technology. The 8815 MP4 from elta supports
playback of all video formats that have been compressed using Nero
Digital(TM) technology. The DVD player will be available in stores
from February 2006 and will cost less than EUR 60 incl. VAT.
The Nero Digital(TM) system is designed to help users create videos on PC and burn them to DVD for use in a home cinema - effortlessly and with maximum quality. The software compresses the files to up to 20 percent of their original size, which means that one DVD can hold many hours of moving pictures and sound.
The Nero Digital(TM) audio and video compression system was co-developed by Nero AG and ATEME, the specialist for multimedia algorithms. The software is a non-proprietary enhancement of MPEG4 and offers many DVD-like features such as AAC audio tracks, surround sound, chapters, and subtitles.
"Our mission is to offer modern consumer electronics at reasonable prices", said Claus Lachner, Product Manager at elta GmbH. "To make sure that our customers enjoy the home cinema experience of their dreams, our products support all popular formats - from MPEG4 to WMA. In line with this policy and in the interests of our armchair cineastes, we simply could not pass on this innovative solution from Nero."
"Nero Digital stands for top-quality entertainment, compatible with the technologies of the future", says Jim Corbett, Executive Director of Nero AG. "Through the increasing proliferation of our standard to DVD players we ensure the seamless transfer of files from PC to home cinema and thus a higher quality experience."
The 8815 MP4 from elta comes with a CD containing test versions of three further Nero programs: Nero Recode, which facilitates the direct import of video file formats and non-copy protected DVDs for coding and/or transcoding in Nero Digital(TM); Nero ShowTime, which plays all digital recordings (films, TV programs, home movies and DVD formats) in excellent picture and sound quality; and finally Nero MediaHome, which allows users to stream videos, music and pictures.
