Iomega REV Drive Technology on Display During Sundance in Park City

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Iomega Corporation , a global leader in data storage celebrating 25 years of business, today announced that its award-winning REV(R) Drive portable storage technology, incorporated in upcoming professional video cameras, recording and storage devices, will be on display in Park City during the Sundance Film Festival.

At a special event called HD House in Park City, open Jan. 20 to Jan. 24, Iomega's REV storage technology will be shown by Grass Valley, a division of Thomson, which is incorporating REV Pro drives and removable REV 35 gigabyte disks for portable storage of digital video in its new Infinity(TM) Series multi-format SD/HD camcorder and Digital Media Recorder and player.

The Grass Valley products are the first such professional filmmaking products to use Iomega REV removable disks as recording and playback media. REV Pro 35GB* disks will allow users to record more than two hours of SD (standard definition) or 45 minutes of HD (high definition) video.

"Iomega's REV drive offers the professional audio/visual markets a superior cost-effective storage platform with remarkable capacity, throughput, and durability," said Werner Heid, president and CEO, Iomega Corporation. "Grass Valley's new breakthrough products showcase the superior capabilities and economical savings of REV technology for the professional storage needs of independent filmmakers.

"I'm happy to add that this special event is something of a homecoming for REV products, since most of the engineers working on REV products live in Utah, where Iomega has its largest concentration of employees," said Heid.

HD House is located at 804 Main St. in Park City. Planned activities during Sundance at HD House include panel discussions with professionals in the filmmaking and postproduction communities, filmmaker questions and answers concerning tapeless and filmless production and other topics, and technology demonstrations, including Iomega's REV technology in the Grass Valley professional filmmaking products. The HD House will be open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from Friday, Jan. 20, to Tuesday, Jan. 24. Events at the HD House are free and open to the public.

At last fall's International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam, Grass Valley, a recognized leader in broadcast and professional acquisition and production, unveiled its new Infinity(TM) Series of products that incorporate Iomega's REV technology as a new recording medium.

Iomega introduced its REV 35GB drive in April 2004. To date, approximately 200,000 REV drives and more than 9,000,000 REV disks have been sold by Iomega to individuals, small businesses, government agencies and corporate offices as portable backup and archive storage solutions.

The extremely durable REV Pro removable disks provide the portability and cost-effectiveness of videotape with the availability, speed, flexibility and ease of use of true nonlinear media such as hard disks. Smaller than a deck of playing cards (10 x 77 x 75 mm), the compact REV Pro disk stores 35GB, enough to record more than two hours of SD or 45 minutes of HD video.

The Iomega REV 35GB drive is currently shipping in ATAPI, external USB 2.0, FireWire(R), SCSI, SATA and multi-disk autoloader configurations. The Iomega REV drive is the winner of more than 20 industry awards worldwide.
