SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Advent Software, Inc. today announces it has appointed James D. Kirsner to Advent's Board of Directors. Mr. Kirsner currently serves on the Boards of Directors for the Bank of Marin, where he chairs the Trust Committee, and of Cool Systems, Inc. He previously was a member of the Board of Directors at Ask Jeeves, Inc., where he chaired the Audit Committee.
Mr. Kirsner was a Partner at Arthur Andersen in its Audit and Business Advisory Practice for over 25 years, providing a wide range of professional services, primarily to financial services firms.
Mr. Kirsner then served as Chief Financial Officer and Head of Barra Ventures at Barra, Inc., a leading investment risk management services company. He had worldwide responsibilities for accounting, sales administration and treasury, human resources, legal, investor relations, administration and facilities, internal computer systems, management information systems and mergers and acquisitions. He was also responsible for the management oversight and Barra's input into the strategic direction of Barra Ventures, a collection of investments that leveraged the ideas and intellectual property of the core business.
Most recently, Mr. Kirsner was a consultant and interim Chief Operations Officer for Tukman Capital Management.
