Fitch Ratings has assigned an 'A+' long-term rating to
$2.5 billion in Wachovia Income Trust Securities (WITS), issued by
Wachovia Capital Trust III, a Delaware trust sponsored by Wachovia
Corporation. WITS are perpetual trust preferred securities that
qualify for regulatory treatment as Tier I Capital. Proceeds will be
used for general corporate purposes.
