The Responsible Care Global Charter focuses on new and important challenges facing the chemical industry and society as a whole, including sustainable development, public health concerns, greater industry transparency and increased global harmonization among countries around the world. The Global Product Strategy includes plans for working with downstream customers, encourages best practice sharing among countries and provides opportunities for industry partnerships with intergovernmental organizations.

"Albemarle consistently has delivered one of the best safety and environmental performance records in the chemical industry. At Albemarle, we are committed to rigorous product stewardship, and these initiatives are part of our effort to implement global chemicals management throughout the supply chain," said Albemarle President and CEO Mark C. Rohr. "Through these ongoing measures, we will seek to minimize the 'footprint' from our operations by actively pursuing opportunities to reduce our emissions, water and energy usage, and waste creation. We encourage our suppliers, contractors and customers to strive for continuous improvement in safety and environmental practices and to share their learnings with others in the industry."
