Mississippi Governor Barbour Helps BearingPoint Dedicate New Software Development Center in Hattiesburg

MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Less than a year after announcing plans for a new U.S.-based software development center, BearingPoint, Inc. , the leading global management and technology consulting firm, officially opened its Global Development Center (GDC) in Hattiesburg, Miss., today. Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour joined BearingPoint executives and employees, as well as Hattiesburg dignitaries in cutting the ribbon for the 30,000 square foot, state-of-the-art center that will eventually add up to 250 new high-tech jobs to the community, part of the Gulf Coast Opportunity/Reconstruction Zone.

In 2005, BearingPoint announced it would establish the Hattiesburg Global Development Center to provide its government clients with access to highly skilled, cost-effective resources for applications development and testing, technical support and managed services in a U.S.-based environment. The Company believes that demand for cost-effective U.S.-based software development services is robust enough, however, that the Hattiesburg GDC will also serve key commercial sector clients.

"There are many clients that, for a variety of reasons, can't or don't want their software development projects to be worked on in an offshore environment," said Paul Nadeau, BearingPoint's Senior Vice President for Public Services Solutions practice. "The BearingPoint Global Development Center helps alleviate these concerns, while offering many of the same benefits an offshore model would. We like to think of it as being able to offer an 'offshoring onshore' solution. We are thrilled to have officially opened the center today with the help of Governor Barbour, and look forward to many years of growth and success in the community."

Nadeau said the local economic development climate, the proximity to the University of Southern Mississippi, and the available workforce were key factors that influenced BearingPoint's decision to locate this state-of-the- art facility in Hattiesburg.

BearingPoint will continue to recruit and train application developers, testing and technical support staff as projects ramp up at the facility. With over 40 employees to date, total staffing will be determined by future demands of the various projects, but employee numbers are anticipated to be around 250 by mid-2007. Those interested in employment at the Hattiesburg GDC can email a resume to the following address: BPt-FMUSHattiesburgPositions@BearingPoint.com.
