Hearst-Argyle Sets Date for Annual Shareholders' Meeting; Announces Appearance at Bear Stearns Conference


NEW YORK, Feb. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Hearst-Argyle Television, Inc. announced today that it will hold its annual meeting of shareholders on Thursday, May 4, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time, in New York City, for shareholders of record March 17, 2006.

The meeting will be Webcast live in listen-only mode. Parties interested in listening to the Webcast can do so from the Company's Web site, http://www.hearstargyle.com/.

The Company also announced today its participation at the Bear Stearns Media, Entertainment & Information Conference at the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, FL. Company management will present on Tuesday, February 28, at 2:15 p.m. Eastern time, and will discuss corporate operations, strategy and outlook.

A live audio Webcast of the Company's presentation will be available through the Company's Web site, http://www.hearstargyle.com/, in the "Investor Relations" section. The audio presentation can also be accessed via the Conferences link within the Bear Stearns Website.

Replays of the Bear Stearns presentation and annual meeting will be archived on the hearstargyle.com site.
