CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The U.S. Army Aviation & Missile Command has awarded Goodrich Corporation contracts covering High Performance Hoist (HPH) Upgrade Kits and winch assemblies.
The contracted HPH Kits will be used to upgrade the first generation rescue hoists currently installed on Sikorsky HH-60 Air Medical Rescue Helicopters. Goodrich's HPH Upgrade Kits consist of an internal hoist conversion kit and hook assembly.
In addition, Redstone Arsenal has elected to take delivery of additional Goodrich-produced winch assemblies under a preexisting contract. The Goodrich winch assemblies will be installed on a fleet of Boeing CH-47 cargo helicopters.
Goodrich's hoist and winch team, headquartered in Diamond Bar, Calif., produces both traditional level wind and industry-unique translating drum cable management systems. Because the mission capabilities of the design concepts are so unique, Goodrich distinguishes between the technologies by category distinctions-translating drum as Category One and the traditional level wind as Category Two. Goodrich is the only manufacturer of the Category One technology in the world.
The U.S. Army will be taking delivery of Goodrich Category One Technology under the HPH Upgrade Kit contract. The winch assemblies for Redstone Arsenal are Goodrich Category Two Technology.
