Dominick's Brings Lifestyle Store Concept to Streeterville

OAK BROOK, Ill., March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Dominick's Finer Foods is raising the bar in local grocery retailing with the opening of its new concept Lifestyle Store in Chicago's Streeterville Community. The new store promises to reinvent the food shopping experience for the downtown's growing residential population, while offering competitive food alternatives for day- time business customers.

"Our new Lifestyle Store, with its innovative design and broader selection of natural, organic and wholesome foods, reflects the more diverse lifestyle choices that customers have told us they want," said company president Don Keprta.

The new store located at 255 East Grand Ave. is Dominick's fourth downtown store and allows the company to anchor the north, south, east and west boundaries of the growing central business district. The pace of developing new and remodeled Dominick's stores further reflects the company's increased commitment to the Chicagoland area.

"Chicago has always had a vibrant business district which now includes a much larger residential population," said Alderman Burton Natarus. "Our residents are very excited about the convenience and location of this new store."

Building on the Fresh Store concept that Dominick's is known for, the Lifestyle Store features:

-- A produce department that offers products grown locally, when available, and delivered fresh daily; -- A larger Organic food section, with more natural and wholesome product selections -- including a new O Organic line of more than 150 items; -- A large Scratch Bakery that includes a broad variety of breads and fresh baked goods, as well as gourmet desserts like Tiramisu and a variety of mousses; -- A floral department that includes vase ready bouquets, flowers and accessories imported from around the world and floral designers providing personalized service; -- A pre-cooked foods section with a broader selection of healthy and gourmet food choices such as Paninis and gourmet soups; -- A broader selection of gourmet cheeses and an olive bar; -- A larger wine section with more choices for connoisseurs and 6-pack value discount; -- Starbucks with cafe seating area for shoppers; -- Full service meat counter with fresh meat and poultry and more customized cuts and choices, including an exclusive Rancher's Reserve selection of beef that offers a money-back guarantee on tenderness; -- A seafood section with a broad array of fresh and packaged product choices; -- As with all Dominick's pharmacies, a licensed pharmacist is always available and there is a greater selection of over-the-counter medications; -- Chase Bank in-store services including ATMs; -- The Lifestyle Store also includes a variety of customer appreciation features like Dominick's Dozens, which gives new meaning to the term "Baker's Dozen" -- there are 14 items in a dozen bouquet of roses and a dozen donuts. Store hours for the new Dominick's store are 6:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. daily.

Dominick's Finer Foods, a division of Safeway Inc., operates 99 stores throughout the Chicagoland area. An important part of Dominick's philosophy is to reinvest in communities through local educational programs, food donations and community-based outreach programs. As part of the grand opening program Dominick's will present checks for $20,000 to the City of Chicago and the Cook County Bureau of Health Services for continued support of breast cancer education, prevention and research. Since 1925, Dominick's has been proud to be Chicagoland's neighborhood grocer.
