A seasoned telecommunications industry executive with experience in sales, marketing, and business and channel development, King has proven expertise in driving exceptional growth and revenue generation through strategic sales for both established and emerging telecommunications companies. Most recently, King was the CEO at Visual Wireless where he secured business with top-tier operators from around the world. Prior to that, as vice president and general manager of wireline systems at Ericsson, based in Stockholm, Sweden, he was responsible for the company's global wireline infrastructure business.

"Over the past several years, UTStarcom has made great strides in expanding our global customer base. David's broad sales experience and proven track record for growing revenues and securing major international customers makes him a strong addition to the UTStarcom management team," said Mike Sophie, UTStarcom's COO. "We are delighted to welcome David to UTStarcom."

"Joining the UTStarcom team is an ideal opportunity for me to work with a dynamic company that is shaping the future of the global communications technology industry," said King. "UTStarcom has been at the forefront of developing cutting-edge, disruptive technologies for a number of years and has a tremendous opportunity to bring powerful solutions to meet operators' needs across the globe."

Before joining Ericsson, King completed his MBA at London Business School and spent seven years consulting in the telecoms industry in both Europe and the U.S. Prior to his MBA, he was an officer in the Royal Marines Officer.

The appointment of David King follows the announcement of Ari Bose, former VP and CIO at 3Com, as UTStarcom's CIO. The appointments of King and Bose build on UTStarcom's strategy for growth in international sales and follow the opening of the company's EMEA Headquarters in Paris and its debut at the leading wireless technologies event, the 3GSM World Congress and Exhibition, in February.
